Cookie policy
Last updated: November 2026
This page explains the cookies and similar technologies used on tomwaltersequine.com, run by Tom Walters Equine Ltd (trading as Tom Walters Equine Vets). For how we handle personal information more generally, please see our privacy notice.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your phone or computer. Some are essential to make a site work; others are used to measure visits or for advertising. Under UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, “PECR”) we must ask your permission before using any cookie that isn’t strictly necessary.
The short version
- We do not use analytics, tracking or advertising cookies.
- We use a small number of cookies needed to make the website and its forms work securely. Because these are strictly necessary, we don’t need to ask for consent, so you won’t see a cookie banner.
- Some pages use services from Google (fonts and spam protection on our forms), which may collect technical information such as your IP address.
Strictly necessary cookies
These are needed for the website to work and keep it secure. They don’t need your consent.
- PHPSESSID – set by our website. Keeps track of your visit so forms work properly. Deleted when you close your browser.
- wordpress_google_apps_login – set by our website’s sign-in system for staff. It contains no personal information about visitors and is deleted when you close your browser.
- wordpress_logged_in_*, wordpress_sec_*, wordpress_test_cookie – only set if a member of our team logs in to manage the website.
- _GRECAPTCHA (Google reCAPTCHA) – helps protect our Register and Contact forms from spam and abuse. Google may also use your IP address and information about your device for this purpose. See Google’s privacy policy.
Third-party content
- Google Fonts – our pages load typefaces from Google’s servers. This doesn’t set cookies, but your browser shares your IP address with Google when it downloads the font.
- Map and directions – our Contact and Register pages show a map image with a link to open our location in Google Maps. The image itself sets no cookies; if you click the link, you go to Google Maps and Google’s own cookie and privacy policies apply.
- Blink payments – when you click “Pay invoice”, you leave our site for Blink’s secure payment page at secure.blinkpayment.co.uk. Blink may set its own cookies, needed to process your payment securely. See Blink’s privacy and cookie policies on their site.
- Facebook – our pages include a link to our Facebook page (facebook.com/horsevets). It is a plain external link: nothing from Facebook loads on our site, and Facebook’s own policies apply only if you click through.
How to control cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings (on a phone, look under Settings, then your browser, then Privacy). If you block strictly necessary cookies, our forms may not work. For help, see the ICO’s guide to cookies.
